EVENTSRevegetation Project ~ Werribee Park Werribee Secondary College has been working in collaboration with Parks Victoria and Werribee Park in the revegetating the dying garden areas down by the river. Senior VCAL students have been participating in this revegetation program for the past 3-4 years as part of their curriculum. A special thank you needs to be given to Georgina from Gordon TAFE, Rodney and Norm from Werribee Park and Mr Sanderson, Ms Bunn and Ms Kirsanovs from Werribee Secondary College. Lorin Nicholson ~ blind guitaristLorin visited the College to speak with and play for students in the junior and middle schools. Lorin is an award-winning musician who speaks about respect and inclusion. His talk was highly motivational and much enjoyed by our students. House Sports ~ 28 Feb (Swimming) and 15 April (Athletics)Our students competed for their House at the College's annual sports carnivals. Students went on to represent the College at Western Zone Competitions and some students won medals at the VSSSA State Championships. Earth Hour ~ Sunday 29 MarchTo help raise awareness of Earth Hour, staff and students are invited to turn off lights, and any other non-essential electrical items at school, for one hour between 11.30a.m. and 12.30p.m. Earth Hour promotes the reduction of wasteful energy consumption thereby also reducing pollution and the effects of global warming. In addition it aims to ensure that our use of natural resources is sustainable. Western Region Work Placement Award ~ March 2008Congratulations to Amy who was the winner Western Region Work Placement Award. The award was presented at the Western Youth Futures Education and Industry Awards held on Wednesday 19 March. _____________ Wolfstock ~ 2-4 August 2007Congratulations to all of the students, parents and staff who produced another memorable school musical production.Values Launch ~ 1 August 2007Mr Gary Shaw (Department of Education) was our special guest at the launch of our College values. He joined Mr Butyn, Ms Cowie and students in the auditorium.Mihara High School Guests ~ 24 July 2007Twelve students and four teachers from Mihara High School in Osaka, Japan undertook a study tour of the College.Duke of Edinburgh ~ Gold Award 15 June 2007Mr Butyn proudly presented Jacqueline Heath and Sanja Trifkovic with their Duke of Edinburgh Gold Awards, at an assembly of Middle School students.CIS / CIASa Award Presentation ~ 8 March 2007Mr. Richard Tangye (Executive Director of the Council of International Schools) presented Mr. Sidiropoulos (College Council President) and Mr. Butyn (Principal) with a plaque in recognition of the College's accreditation as an international school. |
